In your face, typeface! || Orlando Wedding Photographer

Wednesday, February 10th, 2010

I have always appreciated a good typeface. Before the leap of faith that has become Brandy Burridge Photography, I was in the graphic design field.  And most of my friends who know me, know what I feel to be the most overused, heinous of all typefaces…dun dun dunnnnn…papyrus. I am sure that when the creator, Mr. Costello, was painstakingly hand drawing this for six months, he was quite unaware how people were going to kill his work of art. Death by overusation. And I am pretty sure I just made that word up. But lets go with it.

All this was brought up while I was perusing my google reader and stumbled across the Pentagram Test on Shannon’s “Happiness is…” site. So I hopped over and took the short test, giving by a very impatient typeface psychologist.

In conclusion my typeface is:

Architype Typeface

And just out of curiosity I had Beau take it too:

Universal Typeface

Not very found of mine. I tend to like lowercase, rounded, san serif fonts. So I guess I am going to have to steal Beau’s typeface. You would have thought he created our logo.

Well that was fun. What typeface are you??

Date Night Recap || Our Life

Monday, February 8th, 2010

I LOVE surprises. But being the bloodhound that I am, I typically find out what they are beforehand. I am not the girl that will shake her presents that are under the Christmas tree, because I WANT to be surprised.

I was pretty convinced Friday night, date night, we were going to see Phantom of the Opera. A couple of my friends were going to see it and I just had a feeling that we, too, were going to the theater. I was told to be ready at 3:30 and Beau would come home from work and get me. So I got all prettied up and Beau arrived home. And of course….of course it was raining. It never fails, you get all dolled up and then it rains on your hair parade. But nothing was going to ruin my mood. I was going to go see one of my favorite shows, with my favorite guy! Beau already had a feeling I knew what was up. And I told him that I knew we were going to see Phantom. And he played along. We headed out toward Tampa, but I thought nothing of it. I just thought that was where the show was. Fun! I have never been to any of the theaters in Tampa.

We arrived and then proceeded to swim to the tasty sushi restaurant Beau had picked out. After we fattened ourselves up on some fresh fish, we headed on over to the theater. We get to the doors and Beau says, “do you know what we are here to see?’. And I reply, “duh, Phantom.” Then he smiled and said, ” No. Wicked”.

Lets just say people probably thought that he had a dancing monkey with him. I jumped up and down and squealed like, well a monkey. I was so excited. I have wanted to see Wicked forever! It did not disappoint. I love how it makes you completely rethink how everything went down in the old land of Oz. What a fantastic date night. What a fantastic show. What a fantastic husband!!

Our Life || snips and snails and puppy tails

Wednesday, January 6th, 2010

I am late to wish all my blog readers a Happy New Year! I don’t think that I have really made any resolutions per se, I just know that I want this year to be THE YEAR! I want a lot of things, but the reality is the only thing I REALLY want is get Beau working with me 100%. That means, no more “other job” for him. I would get to see his face 24/7. Which makes me ecstatic! We are really working hard on this photography business, but more importantly we are working toward our goals and making wonderful friends along the way. We are sooooo fortunate to have the greatest clients friends! Thank you to all of our supporters out there! If it wasn’t for you I think that I would be in a fetal position in the corner right now mumbling to myself about how Rice A Roni is the San Franciso treat.

On other news, we somehow became a doggie day care this past week. We had our furry niece and nephew and a friends daughter over:

I feel like this is their first grade picture or something, so I feel the need to do this:

Front row: Henry Stephenson, Macee Stephenson

Our Life || St. Augustine Time

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009

Every now and again, we get a chance to grab a couple of hours of alone time before our shoots that occur in different cities that we haven’t had the opportunity to visit previously. Beau had never been to St. Augustine and it had been a LONG time since I had visited. So we headed up 4 hours early before Mark and Janel’s session and had a nice time by ourselves. With Beau working a full time gig on top of the photography, we don’t get a lot of time together when we aren’t busy working. So we cherish the time that we do get.

And thank you Mr Self Timer for our selves-portrait.

Notes || Our Life

Monday, September 14th, 2009

One day we dream about the time Beau will be able to work in his pajamas at home along with me, but for now he has another full time gig. For now… From time to time, this other job takes him out of town and leaves me and the pups alone to watching the Notebook for the thousandth time.

But when he is gone, I find little notes strategically placed throughout the house for me.

I actually found this during dinner time. Niki was over late editing with me and we had contemplated going out and grabbing something, but decided a bowl of Life would do the job just as well. That little white piece of paper made
my night.

Next morning, while enjoying yet another bowl of Life, I found a second in my vitamin jar.

Another when I went to brush my hair.

And again when I went into my gym bag.

I know that “they” say distance makes the heart grow fonder and all…but the black ink on those notes make my heart want him home even more.

addiction wednesday || our life

Wednesday, September 2nd, 2009

Welcome to another installation of Addiction Wednesday.

Have you heard of Rita’s Italian Ice ? If you haven’t I suggest you click on the link and find the nearest location and CHECK them out!! YUMMY. Seriously, with the temperature reaching near 180 degrees here in Florida, who wouldn’t want to have some nice ice? This past weekend when we visited they had –wait for it–Swedish Fish as a flavor. I about jumped for joy, actually I kind of did. I didn’t think they could get any better. Sadly, come to find out, this was the last weekend that they were serving it. Beau and I contemplated buying a couple of gallons–hey this isn’t called Addiction Wednesday for nothing!–but realistically we couldn’t fit that much into our freezer. But we took pictures of the fanastic memory of the Swedish Fish flavored Italian ice with custard.

addiction wednesday || our life

Wednesday, August 26th, 2009

Hi we are Brandy and Beau.

…Hi Brandy and Beau.

We are addicted to Word Whomp.

wordwhomp.jpg

My lovely sister in law introduced us to this drug..um I mean game.  “The object of Word Whomp™ is to make as many words as you can from the six letters in the middle of the screen. Words must have at least 3 letters, and they can’t be proper names, abbreviations, or contractions.”

We can play this game for hours. It is our downtime. Time for us to be together and spell. We are not particularly good at it. The  little weasels or whatever they are sit there, each holding a letter, and blink their beady little eyes at us wondering if we are going to enter a word. AND THEN when we enter an incorrect word, they shake their heads at us. Little vermin! It does makes us feel really smart when we win a round! Celebrating by a “Team B-squared” high-five.

So we figured we would share our addiction with you, the first step to curing our addiction is to speak about it. I hope no one else gets hooked. : )
