the big easy

Friday, October 31st, 2008

So since we were so close to New Orleans photographing Keisha and Johnny’s wedding, we decided to pop on over to The Big Easy, Crescent City, Saints City, The City that Care Forgot. After a night on the town with Tonya and Chris (our friends from Orlando-they were also at the wedding) We all went down to Cafe’ Du Monde the following morning. Tonya told us that we had to go there ever since we planned this trip..so we were looking forward to it meeting our expectations. I mean, really, yummy fried dough drowned in powdered sugar, who would love that. And boy was it good!!. Messy, but delicious.

Then we went on to sight seeing.

The church let out as we approched, so we went in to take in the breathtaking view.

I just loved this sign.

As we were walking we spotted this. I thought that they were using this poor little stuffed cow for a doorstop and said “awww it looks like they killed him” and the guy setting in the doorway (which I had not noticed) said “he’ll be alright”. And then it hit me, and had to laugh out loud, duh it’s Halloween time, they did it on purpose. Murder of the stuffed cow on the streets of New Orleans. What is this world coming to? :) ~

Keisha and Johnny || Wedding Pictures || St. Martinville, Lousiana

Thursday, October 30th, 2008

Before I say anything about the details of this wedding, I first have to thank each and everyone in Loreauville for making our stay such a delightful experience. Granny, I really wish I could have taken you home with us! The home cooked feasts were scrumptious to say the least. And if I could get some more of those crawfish potpies that would be fantastic! I think that Johnny said it the best “if you guys go hungry, it’s your own fault!” HA!

Here is just a “taste” of the wedding!

Keisha and Johnny's Wedding

If you have never been to Louisana, well especially in my experience of New Iberia, there are sugar cane fields EVERWHERE! So Beau and I felt it appropriate to incorporate them into our pictures. I think that we nearly gave a couple of folks a heart attack when they saw what we were doing.

Keisha and Johnny's Wedding

They opted for a first look. Johnny was too cute with anticipation on seeing Keisha. She looked stunning, I can’t believe he didn’t fall over.

But this face was priceless! And if you can’t see it from the size of this picture…there are tears welled up in his eyes.

One word: Gorgeous!

The cakes were stunning! The grooms cake had sugar cover fruit surrounding it. The person cutting the cake turned to me and said that she felt like she was a murder, she didn’t want to cut the wedding cake because it was so beautiful. I didn’t blame her, it was by far a masterpiece!

Beau caught this tender moment. Love it!

And in your head you should be singing now “come on ride the train, the choo choo train” Keisha’s dad was priceless in this picture.

And really, we couldn’t resist getting a shot of the rings with a crawfish. And yes, he is alive!

Johnny and Keisha, thank you again, for allowing Beau and I the opportunity to photograph you wedding. We really felt like part of the family. Our faces hurt the next day because we were smiling so hard throughout the day. I hope that you are having a wonderful, relaxing time in Jamaica. Love, Beau and Brandy.

We were laughing so hard. Our friends flamingoed our yard. I guess you have to live in florida to appreciated being flamingoed.

Ashleigh and Brian’s wedding weekend was super duper crazy fun. I had such an awesome time being Ashleigh’s slave of honor (thats what she called me). I think that she thinks that she ran me into the ground, but really she was not the bridezilla that some of us girls have had to deal with once in our lives. As one of my duties as MOH I was forbidden to take pictures, while in the wedding. You know that you love photography when you are standing up in front of the church tearing up, but desperately wanting to be taking pictures of this beautiful moment at the same time. It was so awesome to be a part of their day. I am so happy for them. The wedding was beautiful.

Me giving my speech = nervous.

Although I didn’t get to take as many pictures as I would have liked, I know that Shelby Leigh, their photographer, got some amazing ones.

I’m pretty sure that Ashleigh told me that they weren’t going to dance…

the best matron of honor present EVER!

Tuesday, October 28th, 2008

Last weekend I was a Matron of Honor in the wedding of two of my best friends, Ashleigh and Brian. Ashleigh had been teasing me for weeks about the gift she got me. She kept telling me that she knew I was going to love my present. In turn this made me super excited, because I LOVE surprises and especially when someone knows I am going to love the present…even more excited!!! Ok. So if you can’t tell by now, I was excited.

Here is the proof:

Ok, for those who don’t know what the excitement was all about it’s called a Shootsac. It has to be one of the greatest inventions ever! It holds all of my lenses while I am busy shooting. I’ve had it only it for a week plus and now don’t think that I could live without it.

Ashleigh had to make me a gift certificate for a cover for the shootsac. Super cute. Never knew she was this talented. If Jessica Claire (the genius behind Shootsac) needs anyone to create more gift certificates, I recommend Ashleigh.

Shelby bean! She is such a happy go lucky baby. Maybe I am partial just because she always smiles at me when I talk to her. This baby has probably seen more of my camera than anyone else. Anytime I am near her I just want to immortalize her in my photography. I will guarantee you that you will see her again and again on this site! Here are some of her most recent pictures:

Don’t Vote!

Friday, October 3rd, 2008

I feel that this is one of the most important elections that I have had a chance to be able to vote…you should too! Donkeys, elephants, monkeys…vote on something! Something you care about. Yes, you are only one person, but you can help make a change.
